This blog is all about my journey living and working in Moshi, Tanzania. This process began before I moved to Moshi in July 2006 and continues as I have been living here six and a half years. I like to write blogs about the kids here at Treasures of Africa Children's Home and about life in Tanzania and the fun things about living in a different culture. The children have become a huge part of my life here. I have fallen in love with them and each day they bring something new and fun to life. God has truly blessed me.

Sounds

FIVE SOUNDS I REALLY LIKE

  1. My refrigerator running.
  2. My fan running at night when it is feels like it is 100 degrees in the house.
  3. Running water coming out of my facet.
  4. Children laughing as they take their evening shower with heated water.
  5. The sound of the vehicle starting – with ease.
FIVE SOUNDS I REALLY DON'T LIKE

  1. The sound of a stiff straw broom sweeping the gravel and leaves outside my bedroom window at 6am.
  2. The sound of a 1000 police in training running past my house at 3:30am – shouting, screaming, chanting and yelling – lasts for 30 minutes
  3. The vehicles driving past my house at all hours of the day/night with loud speakers attached to them making random announcements.
  4. The sound of the wild pack of dogs that run the streets at night in the neighborhood – every single night – getting in fights and non-stop barking.
  5. The sound of the radio my guard plays outside my window at 5am - full blast… and although he has been asked multiple times not to do that anymore – his memory lapses are frequent.
